81st anniversary of the liquidation of the ghetto in Będzin

Brama Cukermana Foundation became the owner of the historic house where in 1943, during the liquidation of the ghetto, resistance fighters fought an “unequal fight against the invader”.
This unique house, so steeped in history, was built in 1932. by Józef Polak. The house was owned by Józef’s descendants until July 11, 2024.
For several years, Karolina Jakoweńko, the head of the foundation, has been in talks with Mrs. Anna Cieplok (Józef’s daughter) regarding the possibility of purchasing real estate. Great sentiment, memories and love for the place did not help Mrs. Anna make a decision. In the meantime, the friendship that had developed between the ladies made it possible to make a decision that was approved by the rest of the family. The house was bought thanks to the financial support of donors and, above all, the perseverance and determination of Uri Maiselman – a friend of the foundation and a member of an Israeli organization working for dialogue.
The foundation’s members face a great challenge, but also a time of adventure and the implementation of a beautiful project that will enrich the cultural offer of the desert Będzin. We want to create a unique place of dialogue and friendship, dedicating it to Jewish fighters from Zagłębie Dąbrowskie, the Polish family and our dear friends from Israel.

We invite you to explore the place and listen to the history that is still being discovered and added to.
