This year the Brama Cukermana Foundation is organizing a commemoration of the 82nd anniversary of the destruction of the Będzin ghetto. We know that many of you may not be with us, but we want you to know that we the people of Bedzin remember that tragic days.

Our commemoration will be a public event for all those interested in paying tribute and remembrance to the citizens of Bedzin and Zagłębie who were murdered during the Holocaust.

The ceremony will take place:
August 3, 2025 (Sunday), 17:00
Ghetto Fighters House in Bedzin, 24 Rutki-Laskier Street.

This year’s commemoration is organized as a part of “Stone Quarter” project, in which we gather information about the history of Kamionka – a poor suburb of Bedzin, where in 1942-43 the Nazis created a hell on earth before the hell of Auschwitz.

PROGRAM OF EVENT:
17:00 – Start at 24 Rutki Laskier Street (Ghetto Fighters’ House):
– march in silence to the Monument at the Ghetto Heroes Square
– short speeches, reading of letters 
– laying of flower / stones and lighting of candles

17:30-45 – Return to the Ghetto Fighters’ House.
– guided tour of the House and its surroundings, presentation of archaeological findings,
– planting of a “memory tree” and workshops for children
– refreshments

The event was organized as part of the project “ReActMem: Rescue Memory – Activism, Arts and Public Remembrance”, which the Bram Cukerman Foundation is implementing together with twelve European partners, thanks to funding from the European Union under the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values ​​(CERV) program.
