We are currently working on the project “The Borderland Memory”. It aims is to create an internet publication devoted to places related to the history of Jews in Upper Silesia and the Zagłębie Dąbrowskie – on the historical border between Poland and Germany. Using a variety of media such as contemporary photography, accounts of witnesses to history and contemporary residents, historical descriptions and archival iconographic materials, a space for reflection on this forgotten history set in a specific local context will be created. On the other hand, the publication will take up more universal issues such as the state of preservation of Jewish heritage, the long-term effects of the Holocaust in public space and social awareness, as well as the processes of the duration of memory and the inevitability of the passing time.

The publication will be available on the foundation’s website in Polish and English.
Partner: Museum in Gliwice

The project was co-financed by the Self-Government of the Silesian Voivodeship and the Association of the Jewish Historical Institute in Poland.
